Making a difference together – apprentice day

Making a difference together, contributing to the protection of nature and having fun together was the focus of the apprentice day on 01.06.2022. Four apprentices of the Travel Charme Ifen Hotel and other volunteer guests and residents support alpine farmer Wolfgang Ott in his work on the pastures of Alpe Bärgunt - a somewhat different kind of teambuilding ?

With branch cutters, canisters, gloves and good spirits, the group started at the parking lot in Baad. Just above the Bärgunthütte, the participants cleared the meadows of young growth and stones and uncovered watercourses. The accumulated branches and leaves were then ignited and burned by the alpine farmers.

In addition to working as a team, the apprentices learned many things about the regional cycles in the valley and connections between the natural and cultural landscape in an exchange with alpine farmer Wolfgang Ott. "It was interesting to learn what the alpine farmers do every day and also to get an understanding of it. Above all, it was a nice to see what we had accomplished at the end of the day and also to have done something good for nature," said apprentice Hannah Frisch.

After their work was done, the hard-working helpers were rewarded with a fine snack at the Bärgunthütte and a gift basket from the Schönegger Käse-Alm in Riezlern.

Jessica Hecker, operations assistant at Travel Charme Ifen Hotel, who accompanied the apprentices, sees days like this as an opportunity for young employees to get to know the region and its features and to be able to identify with it in the long term: "Through projects like this, they learn how important thoughtfulness is and how to deal with resources in a sustainable way, and they can also incorporate these experiences into their everyday lives. It also fosters community and gives them new insights into the importance of working together and understanding each other."

The apprentice day was part of the volunteer days of the project "Experience nature consciously". Several times a year, guests and locals are invited to get an an insight into the alpine economy and actively help out the alpine farmers. All employees and apprentices in Kleinwalsertal are also invited to participate in these days. The next dates will be on 10.08. / 28.09. You can register via the Kleinwalsertal Travelshop.
